Her Serene Highness Princess Marie Aglaë passed away

It is with deep regret and profound sadness that we received the information that Princess Marie passed away. The wife of Prince Hans Adam II, who is formally the ruler of Liechtenstein, passed away at Grabs hospital in Switzerland on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

After a stroke on the previous Wednesday, the health of Princess steadily deteriorated. Princess passed away ‘peacefully and with a great faith in God’ surrounded by her family, the Prince House informed. Princess Marie was renowned for her engagement in social sphere and artistic inclinations. She appeared in the public only sporadically lately.

Princess Maria was born in Prague in 1940 as the fourth of seven children. Her parents, Count Kinsky von Wichnitz and Tetau and Countess Henrietta von Ledebur-Wichelin, had to immigrate to Germany after the Second World War. Princess Marie attended the elementary and secondary school in Germany and after a language study stay in England studied business graphics at the University of Munich.

Marie Aglaë Kinsky von Wichnitz and Tetau married Prince Hans Adam II in 1967. Her husband started ruling in 1984. Four children were born from their marriage: Crown Prince Alois, Prince Maximilian, Prince Constantine, and Princess Tajana. Princess Marie was the head of Liechtenstein Red Cross for three decades.

With quiet memories, may she rest in peace.

Sincerely,

Czech-Liechtenstein Society
